Announcement
A research assistantship is available at the Department of electromagnetic field of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The position is suitable for an excellent final year student interested in field theory and its applications in mw and mmw techniques working towards an M.S. degree or for a postgraduate student working toward a Ph.D. degree. The research area is investigation of uniplanar transmission lines in the mm-wave band and modelling of their circuit discontinuities, periodic structures and materials with negative permittivity and permeability. The work, usually lasting five months, can begin by agreement at any time within the years 2004 - 2005. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the CTU grants a scholarship of 6000 Czech Crowns per month to meet living costs (accommodation and catering in a students' hall, season ticket for urban transport, pocket money, etc). The candidate will provide only his/her insurance and fare to Prague.
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, has a population of 1.2 million and its history goes back to the 9th century beginnings of the present-day Prague Castle. The town is spread on both banks of the river Vltava, which is bridged 18 times within the city. Prague has several hills and over 500 spires. Its parks and gardens are accompanied by woods and nature reserves in the outlying areas. The city has a total of 2191 culturally significant buildings, including 27 permanent theaters, 23 cinemas, 16 museums with 34 extension branches, 130 galleries and exhibition halls. I look forward to hearing from new fellows who would like to enhance their professional qualifications, to gain higher degree, and spend some time in „Golden Prague“.
