The Department of Electromagnetic field is not, as it might seem from its name, just a place which deals only with theoretical disciplines. The name of the department is not only historical but is a trade mark by which we are well known not only by our collegues from academic and industrial circles in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The department has found its place in research and development as well as in applied science and education in the field of antenna technology, a new approach to problems of wave propagation for wireless systems, high frequency technology and optoelectronics. The general public and professionals are interested in interdisciplinary issues, namely medical applications of microwave technology and electromagnetic compatibility. Those who are interested in any form of cooperation and services in the stated fields can be acquainted with our activity in the presentation of individual research teams, domestic and international projects, on the web pages of the department members and in the lists of available laboratory technologies, applied methods, special laboratories and software. We are looking forward to your interest.

Lecture "Soft Magnetic Thin Film Applications at Radio Frequencies"

We invite you to lecture from: prof. M. Yamaguchi, Department of Electrical and Communication Engineering, Tohoku University, IEEE 2012 Distinguished Lecturer: Soft Magnetic Thin Film Applications at Radio Frequencies. The lecture will hold place on 14.09.2012 in 1pm at Technická 2, C4-80.

This lecture begins with a review of new soft magnetic thin film applications at radio frequencies for future system-in-package (SiP) and system-on-chip (SoC) technologies. Proposed in late 1970s, these thin film soft magnet applications have evolved from inductive read/write recording head technology to the frontiers of GHz frequency device applications. Discussions covered in this lecture include: (1) Development of international cross measurements of RF permeameters [2] to evaluate RF permeability and related FMR profiles of magnetic films; (2) small signal high permeable low loss applications to CMOS integrated inductors [3]; (3) small signal lossy application to CMOS integrated electromagnetic noise suppressor [4]; (4) small to medium signal applications as new metal/ferromagnetic multi-stack “conductors” to suppress skin effect utilizing negative permeability beyond the FMR frequency [μr’....
